The incidence higher age over 60. Over 50% initially occur on lower lid inner angle. Research objectives. Literature review epidemiology, aetiopathogenesis, clinical attributes, diagnostics, treatment histopathology, recurrence, prognostic factors, management BCC. Core work. Standardised diagnosis C44 period 1997–2012 Slovakia ranged from 35.05 to 73.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. histopathological examination essential. first consideration for radical surgical excision using Mohs micrographic technique. We can consider apoptotic index, expression Bcl-2, as an unexplained factor recurrence. Conclusion. Increased attention must be given tumours. Functional aesthetic outcome patients important after clear excisions reconstruction should carefully considered. Radical exenteration considered case orbital invasion high-risk aggressive

متن کاملVismodegib for periocular and orbital basal cell carcinoma.
IMPORTANCE Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) represents 90% of malignant eyelid tumors and is locally invasive and destructive, if left untreated. OBJECTIVE To assess the feasibility of using vismodegib for periocular and orbital BCC based on its efficacy and tolerability. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS In this prospective observational case series, consecutive patients with periocular or orbit...
متن کاملVismodegib for Locally Advanced Periocular and Orbital Basal Cell Carcinoma: A Review of 15 Consecutive Cases
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common periocular skin cancer and can lead to significant morbidity. We assess the effectiveness of vismodegib, a first-in-class Hedgehog signaling pathway inhibitor, in the management of periocular and orbital BCCs based on clinical response, tolerability, and orbital content preservation. All patients with periocular or orbital BCCs who met criteria for ...
متن کاملThe Usefulness of CD10 in Distinguishing between Cutaneous Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Background & Objectives: CD10 is a cell surface enzyme with metalloendopeptidase activity, also known as Common Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Antigen, which mainly serves as a marker for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). To date and to the best of our knowledge, only few comparative immunohistochemical studies have assessed CD10 expression in cutaneous epithelial neoplasms. Our goal was to d...

OBJECTIVES To show the importance of frozen section-controlled excision to avoid the re-recurrence of recurrent basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of the eyelids. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty-five cases who underwent eyelid tumor excision in different centers and were admitted to our clinic with recurrent eyelid tumors. Recurrent tumors were resected by excision 1-2 mm from the tumor's visible margin...
